Vinted Shoppers Express Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
